Can an Archive be...

Can an Archive be Something You Feel With Your Body?

Dimensions variable
2019

This installation is the material manifestation resulting from a relational process of hand-me-downs in a circle of transgender and non-binary friends. Shared clothes, memoribilia, notes of care, passed down from one to the other and displayed here on custom made vitrines and exhibition prosthetics. The furniture like objects reference the body in the same way that the objects that they display do. Exploring notions of affect and the archive, embodiment and queer social memory, and networks of care and connection in trans community, Can an Archive be Something You Feel With Your Body? asks: what emotional excess and mess does the archive lose? What can it not contain?
