In this work, exhibition prosthetics and live performance bring narrative and meaning to a set of ten personal objects, collected over twenty years. Examples of these objects include a pair of soccer shoes, a photograph of the cake that celebrated the artist’s birth into this world and assignment of the male sex, and an iPhone. Presented in relation to a series of slide-projected images, the series of objects are sorted one by one, either put on display or hidden. Objects that surround us make up our bodily horizon; we create this bodily horizon by bringing near what is like us and by pushing away what is not. In differing contexts, we push and pull things near or far and are made intelligible, gendered, sexed selves through this process.
